While this blog is primarily stories & photos of the journey of my life & craft, I do take a fair bit of time to write reviews. Reviews have always been an important part of the Knitting Sarah blog for two big reasons. First, I’m a true believer that as crafters with so many choices available to us for tools, materials, and resources, the more information and personal impressions we have access to the better. Good quality reviews can really help guide us to the items that help us to not just grow as fiber artists, but flourish.
Second, I will always do whatever I can to support the makers of quality tools, materials, and resources. From small one-woman dye-houses to larger companies that manufacture quality knitting needles, if I find a tool or fiber or book or yarn that I think is awesome, I want to share that with you. Getting those great items in your hands will not only help you get the most of your craft, but it supports quality artisans, too. It’s a win-win.
Review items that appear on this blog are sometimes items I’ve purchased personally and sometimes items that have been sent to me by different shops or companies. Of the latter, items are accepted by me only on a case-by-case basis. My parents always told me that if I don’t have something nice to say, that I shouldn’t say anything at all. I try to live by that rule, so I only publish positive reviews for items I’m willing to stand behind. That doesn’t mean I always say nice things about everything — it means that if it makes it onto my blog, you can trust that my words of support are genuine. My background as a knitting instructor has taught me that knitters in general have a wide range of needs and preferences, so I always strive to keep an open mind when testing review items. While I may love little luxuries in my crafting (who doesn’t?!), I’m always on the look-out for real value and aim to provide reviews on a wide range of yarns, needles, fibers, tools, books, etc.
The reviews I post are always my own personal & genuine thoughts and impressions. I never accept any financial compensation for these reviews.
