TdF: Team Update!

It’s so funny how so often in life when you reach a point at which you settle in to accept a situation that is not ideal, it suddenly works out.

Yesterday I was plying away on my Sweet Georgia Polwarth + Silk in Stormchaser…

IMG_9829…when my phone beeped. I had an email. It was from Natalie at Cloudlover Yarn & Fiber asking if I’d be interested in co-hosting/co-captaining a team for the Tour de Fleece this year. My response was — of course — a resounding YES.

This is one of my very favorite shops for fiber and since I usually subscribe to the fiber club and I went a teensy bit bananas in their booth at the last Wisconsin Sheep & Wool, I have a pretty deep Cloudlover stash that needs spinning. Plus, I like that this team is very inclusive — you can spin any fiber and be any skill level, so it’s a great environment for learning and sharing ideas and finding inspiration. All you need to do is spin daily and post daily snapshots of your progress so we can ooooh and aaaaah over them. Oh, and there will be prizes, too (Thanks, Natalie!)!

Remember the Tour de Fleece runs July 4th – July 26th this year. I know a lot of folks have vacation plans this time of year, so I want to be clear that you’re still welcome to join even if — for instance — you’ll be out for a week while you’re on vacation. You can read all about the team, team ‘”rules”, tagging, and prizes here in the Cloudlover Ravelry Group TDF – Team Cloudlover 2015 discussion thread. To become a member, simply reply to the official team thread in the TDF Ravelry Group here. I hope you’ll join us!

In the mean time, let’s take another look at that stash photo I posted yesterday…

IMG_9821So. Much. Pretty.

As I mentioned, it’s been great incentive to finish plying the Hot Pink merino/silk from Louet for my daughter…

IMG_9834Which I managed to complete yesterday. That feat, of course, earned me some time spelunking in ‘deep stash’ where I found these…

IMG_9836  Realistically, that’s probably more than I will spin in the whole of the TDF, but that doesn’t stop me from perusing the Cloudlover shop…

I’ve long admired this braid of Brass Petals, a SW Merino/Cashmere/Silk blend.

And Soul Gem in my very favorite Polwarth/Silk blend (which also happens to be on sale).

Did I mention there is a special coupon code for 15% off so spinners can ‘fuel up’? It’s good until the start of the TDF and you can find that code here.

I was ready to make the best of going it alone in the 2015 Tour de Fleece, but I’m definitely very excited to have found a fantastic team. With my team situation squared away, only one question remains: With my bobbins empty, do I spin another braid before the Tour begins?
