Socks with Sarah End of the Year *GIVEAWAY*

One year ago at this time, I was happily panicked as the Socks with Sarah KAL took off. It wasn’t until a week or two before the new year that I had even personally commit to opening this KAL up to all of you and when I announced it, I expected maybe if I was lucky a dozen or so would join me. I wasn’t quite sure who — if anyone — would want to take on a year of daily sock knitting, to get in the habit of sock knitting and hopefully make it an engrained, beloved part of our daily lives. The happy panic set in when the numbers of knitters signing up kept rising. Before I knew it we numbered well over 100, ultimately topping out around 200 knitters. It has been an incredibly rewarding year of knitting in so many ways — from what I’ve gained as a knitter to the friends I’ve made along the way to what I’ve learned about hosting this size of a KAL — and I will share more of my own personal reflections in the coming days. I also want to remind you that if you are new to this KAL, you aren’t too late — by popular demand, we will be officially shifting from a KAL to an open knitting group as the KAL closes. This means I will maintain the Ravelry thread for discussion & support and that we can all continue to use the #sockswithsarah tag on Ravelry & Instagram. It was just too good of a group to stop now!

As our official year-long Socks with Sarah KAL draws to a close on January 14th though, as promised I have a little giveaway to finish up. This giveaway won’t quite be the mega-storm of prizes that I set up in May — the number of folks checking in on the Ravelry thread has been smaller the last couple months so keeping the giveaway a little smaller seemed appropriate, but I think you will see there are still a lot of wonderful prizes and an excellent chance for all to win.

When I was starting to organize this end of the year giveaway, it was important to me that in the spirit of this very inclusive group, this be a very inclusive giveaway. So the criteria to enter this giveaway are as follows:

Who is eligible?

Socks with Sarah Knitters

This includes: those who’ve signed up and been knitting along with us all year in the KAL, those who signed up and didn’t quite make it through the year, those who are just finding the group — which as I said officially becomes an open knitting group as of January 15th — and want to pop in and join the conversation on the Ravelry thread, brand new sock knitters inspired to give sock knitting a go, or any current or wannabe sock knitters who are interested being part of the group.

How do I enter?

Go to the special SWS End of the Year Giveaway thread in the Friends of Knitting Sarah Ravelry group & share the following:

For those who are already signed up for Socks with Sarah:
Please share two things:
1) What was your favorite part of Socks with Sarah and
2) What are your sock knitting plans for 2015?

For those new to Socks with Sarah:
Please share two things:
1) How did you find the Socks with Sarah group and
2) What are your sock knitting plans for 2015?

You have to admit, this is pretty simple!

Now, for what you’re all wondering… the prizes! First and foremost, we must thank ALL of our wonderful sponsors — even those not represented in this giveaway. All have been incredibly generous this year and have given in a variety of ways — discount codes, custom colorways, giveaways, technical support — you name it, they’ve been involved in making this KAL amazing. I sincerely hope to be able to work with each of them again in the future and I absolutely recommend each of them to you when you are in the market for new materials or tools. For a full list of our sponsors, please see the list with links on Ravelry here.

  1. Wow, Sarah…Thank you so much for the whole year…I’ve been a little behind in sock knitting, but I’m really trying hard to finish up my eighth pair. I know I need to post more on ravelry, but I have to confess I was kind of intimidated to post my first socks along with all those incredible sock knitters. This was so much fun! Thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone. Love your blog… 🙂

  2. Gorgeous yarn – congratulations on acquiring so many kind sponsors – both for this final giveaway and throughout your wonderful sock-knitting year.
