The final day of September finds me watching the leaves turn & begin to fall. Some of you here in the Merry KAL are watching plants begin to wake up. For all of us, though, one truth remains: Christmas is now less than 3months away. I don’t know about you, but I am getting excited to see this year’s knitalong labors in use!
We’ve had some excitement over on Instagram where Arne & Carlos have taken note of our little band of knitters & have been kind enough to ‘Like’ a number of our KAL photos. They even posted up a photo of their own Christmas Ball knitting — so fun! Thanks so much to all the knitters who are participating & tagging photos and blog posts!
Now, down to this month’s knitting. As you know, I selected two balls for September. I don’t know about you, but I really enjoyed these!
First, Christmas Ball #9: Tricolor.
As you can see, as we’ve all been talking about it on the Ravelry thread, I picked up some grey yarn. I just love how it turned out on this ball and the bell. It is not as elegant of a grey — more sock monkey than anything — but I like that it hints at informal. My house… well, it is very informal so I feel as though it’s a good match.
And next, Christmas Ball #24 Christmas Bells.
It took me a few starts to find a color combination I liked. At first, I thought the grey would make a great ‘silver bell,’ but in all honesty it really did not look good at all. I started over with green and again didn’t like it. Finally, I tried this combo & was quite pleased. You know what they say, the third time’s the charm.
So there you have them — September’s Merry KAL installment. If you are new to this knitalong, please know that you are welcome to join any time to whatever degree you wish. We are a very casual group who is just having fun knitting these neat little Christmas baubles. All you need is the book, some yarn & needles, & a little bit of Christmas spirit. You can find more information on our very friendly, very fun Ravelry thread here which is co-hosted by myself & Martine from iMake.
Don’t forget — check back tomorrow when I announce October’s Christmas ball!
