Happy April 1st, everyone!
Let me begin by saying that there is no April Foolsing happening here today — everything is straight-up truth. And yes, it may seem too good to be true.
This month is all about you — those of you participating in the Merry KAL with me. When I started this KAL on January 1st, I honestly wasn’t sure anyone would want to knit with me. I was hopeful, but I knew there was a fair chance my ‘knitalong’ would be me, myself, & I. What has followed has been really… incredible. People have been knitting with me. A lovely podcaster has been kind enough to co-host a Ravelry thread. I have made friends near & far and enjoyed seeing their interpretations of each month’s installment. If I had to label it, I would call it simply a joy.
Because so much of what is making this KAL special is the people, this month’s Christmas ball is going to reflect that. April’s installment of the Merry KAL is:
Christmas Ball #26: “Dancing Around the Tree”
When I saw this image, I instantly thought about all the lives involved in this KAL from literally all around the world & this just seemed appropriate.
I promised a big announcement, right? Well, here it is…
As a way to say thank you to all of you who have been knitting with me, as well as to encourage those who are knitting along, but not joining in the chatter to say hi, and to entice others to join in, this month my co-host Martine & I are offering some giveaways!
To be eligible for these giveaways, you must complete and post a photo of your finished April MerryKAL ball on our Ravelry thread. In line with our KAL rules, this can be the ball I have announced or one of your choosing. You just need to complete & post a photo of your Christmas Ball from Arne & Carlos’ 55 Christmas Ball to Knit between April 1st & April 30th. I will then randomly select & announce the lucky winners sometime during the second week of May.
So, what could you win?
3 lucky winners will receive Martine’s absolutely lovely Twiglet Mitts Pattern.I had the pleasure of knitting up a pair over my Spring Break holiday and they are just a delight to work on. I will share photos and info soon, I promise!
1 lucky winner will receive Kate Davies’ Snawheid pattern.
I greatly apologize that I do not have a photo — I did not have time to get an OK to use Ms Davies’ photo & I won’t do so here without permission, so please follow this link to see her wonderful hat pattern on Ravelry. Stranding & snowflakes — it is simply lovely!
And 1 lucky knitter will receive the ‘Grand Prize’ — Chruchmouse Yarns & Teas’ Basic Christmas Stockings Pattern and 2 skeins of Cascade 220.
It is a very versatile pattern that allows you to make all sorts of different Christmas stockings and the red & green yarn will be a great start to your holiday stocking knitting!
Here’s another shot showing some of the stockings that you can make using this pattern — lots of different sizes & designs, so there is something for everyone.
I can’t wait to see everyone’s April Christmas Ball! Remember you have to post a photo of your finished April Christmas Ball between April 1 & April 30th onto our Merry KAL Ravelry thread to be eligible for the giveaway. Stop in, say hello & let us know how the knitting is going throughout the month, too — we are a really friendly bunch! If you have any questions about how to post a photo to the thread, please contact me anytime — I’ll be happy to help!
Looking forward to hearing from all of you & a reminder that new knitters are welcome to join & eligible to enter the giveaway, too!
Ready…. Set… Knit!
